How 40 minutes could turn into a longer problemResearchers in this study observed three major ways that anger impacted blood vessel health, Shimbo said. After the eight-minute task meant to induce anger, the impacts on blood vessels were seen for up to 40 minutes, he said. If you do this exercise for previous elections, issue polling failures look more like the norm than the exception. With such a poor track record, there’s a case that “issue” polling faces a far graver crisis than “horse race” polling. The crisis facing issue polling is almost entirely non-falsifiable — just like the issue polling itself. Most pollsters probably assume they’re good at issue polling; after all, unlike with horse race polls, they’re almost never demonstrably wrong. These causal questions are beyond what a single poll with “issue” questions can realistically be expected to answer.

In some hospitals, patients arriving in cardiac arrest are not resuscitated, because medical staff choose to work on patients with a greater chance of survival instead. On top of all those challenges, the hospitals have become temporary orphanages, too, according to the medical workers. The medical staff have cared for some of the children until a relative can come to take them. Shares of several regional banks fell, including M&T Bank and US Bancorp. Regional banks remain a focus of investor scrutiny. The KBW regional banking index (.KRX) is down nearly 24% year-to-date, while the S&P regional bank (.SPCOMBNKS) has also dropped 33% in the same period. Citizens Financial Group (CFG.N) and First Horizon Corp (FHN.N) both reported a decline in their third quarter profit weighed down by rising credit loss provisions and deposit costs.
